Bone Grafting in Edmonton, AB

Bone grafting is a procedure that is sometimes necessary for installing dental implants. Without it, some patients would not have enough bone mass to keep an implant in place. Here at Flossophy Dental, we perform bone grafting in our Edmonton, AB office.

When a tooth goes missing, the bone tissue around the area will begin to deteriorate. If the tooth is not replaced quickly, the bone tissue will shrink so much that dental implants are no longer an option. In other cases, sometimes the bone tissue below the sinuses is just too small to host an implant. For both these cases, we perform bone grafting.

The bone fragments that we use can come from another area of your jaw or another area of your body like your shin bone. Your doctor will make an incision, pack the bone fragments into the area, and stitch the area back up. Over several months, the bone fragments will not only heal into place, but they will also promote further bone tissue regeneration. The end result will be bone tissue that is big enough and strong enough to hold a dental implant.

Dental implants are the best option for tooth replacement, as they are able to last a lifetime. To learn more about dental implants or bone grafting, contact Flossophy Dental of Edmonton, AB by calling our office at (780) 306-9333 or by visiting our website, www.flossophydental.ca
